My dentures don't fit
Characteristics and what to look for:
A denture that moves during eating or speaking. This can lead to embarrassing episodes of losing the denture during mid function. Implants may be used to stabilize your chewing.
Cause of loose denture
-
Bone loss
-
Bone remodeling
-
Inappropriate denture fabrication
-
Overly active tongue
Treatment and how we can help:
Teeth support the jaw bone, so a loss of teeth results in loss of jaw bone. Your jaw bone continues to change size and shrink as you age. Conventional dentures are supported by the jaw bone so the larger the ridge where the denture sits, the greater the stability. Additionally, dentures (especially lower dentures) can easily be displaced by movements during eating and speaking. Your dentures can be converted, and stabilized by implants which greatly increases the retention of the denture and improves the quality of life. Additionally, if you're looking for a completely fixed option, full arch implant replacement is also an option.
